The thaw

1996

Carved and painted pine, MDF with triple light fitting and frosted glass shades.

About 1800mm high.

Another piece inspired by the narrative of a Heath Robinson drawing. It is in the form of a standard lamp. Caught in a snow storm, the lady and her husband’s chauffeur builds an ever increasing “tower” of luggage to escape the rising snowdrift. As the snow “thaws” and recedes they are left stranded. All in the course of which, the husband, who has been sitting on the chauffeurs head has sprouted angels wings. The car was modelled loosely on a 1930’s MG .
