Ship of fools

Carved and painted lime, pine and driftwood with copper.

About 1000mm wide.

This was one of my first attempts at using driftwood. The theme of the Ship of Fools is an allegory of the human condition, highlighted in the Middle Ages by Hieronymus Bosch among others. It was exhibited at the Visual Arts Scotland annual exhibition in 2000. Possibly because of its size I eventually broke it up.
