In the early 80’s I bought a canoe and took it on its maiden voyage out on Largo Bay. Ten yards from the shore it capsized. The sailing club sent their rescue boat over to check I was ok. Being a sunny Sunday afternoon the beach was very crowded. It was all a bit embarrassing.
