2012–2014

Driftwood.

As a child, other than Tintin and Topcat, cartoons were not my thing. A piece of driftwood suggested Tintins head and it just went on from there. Some of my pieces “make themselves”. Despite its simplicity this was a real struggle especially using colour. Like quite a few works it was made a couple of years ago but only finished properly in 2014. I was trying to create the effect of a crabs shell but as part of a fish. The crab claws were in a box of invaluable beach finds which a lady kindly handed in to me.
